Rajat Bhatri/Gorakhpur: In the summer season, people like to drink cold things. During this period the demand for Sattu and Lassi increases a lot. There is a shop in Gorakhpur too, whose lassi is loved by the entire city. Why not, their Lassi is so delicious. Besides, the way of making them is also very unique.
Lale Bhai has a Lassi shop at Asuran Chowk in Gorakhpur. The shop opens at 11 am. But there is no time to stop. The shop closes only when Lale Bhai’s lassi runs out. Sometimes the lassi is sold out in 2 hours, sometimes in 4 hours. After reaching Asuran Chowk of Gorakhpur, you will see Lale Bhai’s Lassi shop. Lale Bhai has been running this shop for the last 40 years.
Been making Lassi since the age of 20
Lale Bhai is about 60 years old. But, he has been making lassi since the age of 20. Every day 500 to 700 glasses of lassi are sold at his shop. Earlier he used to work alone. But, now his son Anshu also helps. Lale Bhai’s shop uses 5 to 7 quintals of curd every day, from which lassi and rabri are prepared. The price of one glass of Lassi is Rs 50 and in 4 to 5 hours approximately 500 to 700 glasses of Lassi are finished.
The recipe is special
After reaching the shop, Lale Bhai’s son Anshu was giving lassi to the customer. Talking to Local 18, Anshu says that his father started it 40 years ago. Everyone makes lassi the same way. But, father brings curd from the village and after straining the curd in cotton cloth, whipping it in a vessel, adding sugar and flavors to it and preparing lassi. Papa has been preparing lassi with the same recipe for 40 years. Lassi is very thick, which is liked by the customers. Neither the taste of Lassi nor the method of making it has changed for 40 years. This is the reason why there is a rush of customers.
