According to a report by news agency PTI, the temple trust has issued a new dress code for priests along with other instructions. According to this, priests will now be seen in yellow dhoti, chaubandi (a kind of kurta) and turban. Earlier, the priests present in the sanctum sanctorum of Ram Lalla used to wear saffron turban, saffron kurta and dhoti.
The report quoted sources as saying that the step to ban priests from carrying their phones into temples was taken due to security reasons. According to sources, this step was taken after the picture of the temple went viral on social media recently.
New dress code implemented from July 1
According to temple officials, the new dress code has come into effect from July 1. In the new dress code, the turban is made of yellow cotton cloth, it will be tied on the head and new priests have been trained to tie the turban. He said that apart from this, there will be no button in the chaubandi kurta and a thread has been threaded to tie it. The yellow dhoti is a piece of cotton cloth which will be tied around the waist which will cover the entire legs till the ankles.
Every assistant priest will get 5 trainee priests
There are four assistant priests to assist the chief priest in the temple. The trust has decided to appoint 5 trainee priests under each assistant priest. The priests will provide their services from 3.30 am to 11 pm. According to the trust, each team of priests will have to provide 5 hours of service.
