Now farmers of Punjab will go on strike again from January 22, what are their demands this time?

A strike of farmers in Punjab had just ended and now the farmers have planned to go on strike once again. Due to which the state government was hesitant in presenting the new agricultural policy. "Failure" Is. Regarding this, farmers will protest in front of the offices of Deputy Commissioners from January 22 to January 26.

Let us tell you that in January last year, the then Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal had formed an 11-member committee to prepare the draft of the new agricultural policy by March 31, 2023. According to various media reports, a member of this committee, on the condition of anonymity, said that at present the draft of the policy has not been prepared. Some members of the committee had gone abroad, hence the discussion on the policy is pending. A meeting will be held soon to finalize it.

Will be announced soon

At the same time, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab chief spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang has said that the state CM Bhagwant Mann has recently talked to farmers on this issue. Agriculture policy is the top priority for the AAP government in the state. Suggestions have already been taken from about 5 thousand farmers. Regarding the delay in the policy, the spokesperson said that there was no agriculture policy after 2000 and the AAP government had started work on the policy immediately after coming to power. He says that the policy will be announced soon.

Already given ultimatum

On the other hand, BKU (Ekta Ugrahan) has already given an ultimatum to the government to announce the policy by January 21 or face opposition. Union General Secretary Sukhdev Singh Kokri Kalan says that we have already given a memorandum regarding pro-farmer steps to be included in the policy. But it seems that the government is delaying it due to pressure from corporates. Whereas BKU (Kadian) national spokesperson Ravneet Brar says that the government had promised MSP on all crops and new agricultural policy to increase the income of farmers. But even after almost 2 years of coming to power, nothing has been done.
