OIC again made statements on Kashmir issue

OIC Statements On Kashmir Issue: OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) has once again raised the issue of Kashmir. Apart from this, fierce statements have also been made by this organization regarding India. Recently, a meeting of OIC member countries was held, after which a joint release was issued by the organization. In this release, statements have been made regarding the assembly elections being held in Kashmir and the parliamentary elections that have already taken place. On the other hand, OIC has rejected India’s statements on POK and Gilgit Baltistan. Even before this, OIC has been blaming India and making statements on Kashmir many times.

Contact group formed
OIC member countries met in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meeting. Following the path shown by Pakistan, OIC has reportedly formed a contact group on Kashmir. This contact group also claims to reaffirm its support for the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people. Apart from this, statements have also been made regarding the rights of Kashmiri people.

The joint statement said, “Parliamentary elections or Legislative Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir cannot serve as a substitute for giving the right to self-determination to the Kashmiri people.” The statement further said that “lasting peace and stability in South Asia depends on the final resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

When was OIC established?
OIC is a group of Islamic countries. A total of 57 countries are included in this organization. OIC was established in 1969 in Rabat, Morocco. Its headquarters is located in Jeddah city of Saudi Arabia. The official languages of the OIC are Arabic, English, and French. It is a different matter that India, the third largest country in the world in terms of number of Muslims, is not its member. Every time, India has rejected the statements of OIC regarding the Kashmir issue and has shown it a mirror.
