On the evening of April 22, a speeding car hit an elderly couple riding a bike near the Bhairav Temple located in Town Mendu of the Kotwali Hathras Junction area on the Hathras-Sikandrarau road. The husband died on the spot in the accident, while the wife died on the way to Aligarh. The police took the bodies into custody and sent them for post-mortem.
Pop Singh (65), son of Pop Singh, resident of Mathura Road, Kachpura Khan Singh (65), village Farauli Hall of Kotwali Hathras Junction area, was coming to Hathras on Monday afternoon with his wife Angoori Devi (58) on a moped to meet their children in village Farauli. As soon as the couple riding the moped reached near the Bhairon temple located near Kasba Mendu. Then a speeding Vitara Brezza car coming from behind hit him.
After the accident, the car riders fled leaving the vehicle on the spot. Than Singh died on the spot in the accident, while his wife Angoori Devi was seriously injured. After the incident, traffic came to a halt for some time on Hathras-Sikandrarau road. There was a huge crowd at the spot.
People immediately informed this to Kotwali Hathras Junction Police. The police took the body into custody and sent the injured Angoori Devi to Bagla District Hospital for treatment in an ambulance. From there he was referred to Aligarh in a critical condition, but he died on the way to Aligarh. The family members were in a bad state, crying over the death of the couple. The couple has left behind three sons and daughters crying. CO Sikandrarau Dr. Anand Kumar says that a case will be registered on the basis of the complaint.
