Omicron Xbb Variant Is Most Prevalent Sub-lineage Circulating All Over India Says INSACOG

Covid-19 Omicron XBB In India: The outbreak of Corona epidemic has increased a lot in many countries of the world. The Government of India has also taken many tough decisions in view of the possible surge in Coronavirus infection. The focus of the government is now on finding out the new covid variants found in the country. Meanwhile, the Indian SARS-COV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) has told an important thing in its bulletin. According to INSACOG, the ‘XBB’ sub-variant of Kovid’s Omicron is most active in India.

In the bulletin of INSACOG, it was said that Omicron and its sub-variants remain the major variants of the corona virus in the country. Notably, the XBB variant of Omicron is the most active (63.2%) across India. According to INSACOG, the BA.2.75 and BA.2.10 variants of Kovid also spread in the country, but to a lesser extent. BA.2.75 is particularly active in North-East India. However, so far no increase in its severity or hospitalization has been observed.

Covid XBB spreading across India
It was also said by INSACOG that the XBB sub-variant of Omicron is not that dangerous. People getting infected by this are getting cured in a very short time. However, it is true that XBB is the most active sub-variant spread across India. At the same time, these days there is a furore in America due to the XXB.1.5 variant. Experts say that corona virus XXB.1.5 spreads the infection 104 times faster than other variants. Which even the vaccine will not be able to stop.

Earlier the infection rate of sub-variants was low
INSACOG had earlier said in a bulletin released on 5 December 2022 that the infection rate in the country is below 500 per day. The report said that the XBB variant is active in the northern part of the country, while the BA.2.75 sub-variant is present in the eastern part. The infection rate of BA.2.10 and other sub-variants of Omicron was low last week.
