On this day the British came to India for the first time
The British started ruling India with the policy of divide and rule. Talking about entry into India for the first time, according to historians, the British had arrived in India on 24 August 1608. His objective was to do business in India. In such a situation, the British opened it for the first time under the leadership of James I’s ambassador Sir Thomas Roe. This factory was opened in Surat. After this the East India Company opened its second factory in Madras.

Taking advantage of differences
During trade, the British found that India was in complete disarray socially, politically and economically and there were mutual differences among the people here. Seeing these differences, the British started diplomacy towards ruling India. In the year 1750, the East India Company had defeated Nawab of Bengal Siraj-ud-Daula. After this, gradually through their diplomacy the British established their rule in other states also. With this, the rule of the East India Company was established in India. 

When did the freedom struggle start in India?
The first freedom movement in India started after the rebellion of 1857. After which the rule of East India Company in Maharashtra came to an end in 1858. After the end of the East India Company, the British Crown had direct control over India. Which is known as British Raj.
