One fruit, many uses! From pickles to vegetables, it is full of proteins and minerals


Chhattarpur: Today we will talk about a fruit found in Chhatarpur which is known here as Jamin Ka Phal or Gila. However, this fruit is also known by different names in different places. This Jamin fruit found in Chhatarpur is also called Kachariya. Its botanical name is Cucumis melo var. This fruit belongs to the Agrestis family Cucurbitaceae (pumpkin family). Protein and minerals are also found in abundance in this fruit.

Chhatarpur farmer Ram Gopal, who has been cultivating vegetables for years, told Local 18 that this fruit is also called Gila, Kachariya or Jamin ka phal in the local language. This fruit grows on its own in the sesame crop field. No one even plants it.

This seasonal fruit lasts for 4 months
According to the farmer, it bears fruit for four months. Most of the farmers stay in their fields, so whenever they are tired and hungry, eating this fruit energizes the body. Not only farmers but common people also buy it from fields and markets and take it home.

There are different ways to eat fruit
Only its ripe fruit is eaten. Pickle of the unripe fruit is kept and vegetable is made from the ripe fruit. Its vegetable is also prepared like any other vegetable. Just like potato and brinjal vegetable is prepared at home, its vegetable is also prepared and eaten in the same way. After removing its seeds and drying it, it is fried in oil and eaten with roti with great gusto.
