On Tuesday morning, a high speed crane entered the house of labourers near the site of Public Works Department in Pul Prahladpur area. The wall of the house collapsed due to the collision of the crane and the labourers sleeping there got trapped under it. Four people were injured in the accident, while one person died. The police reached the spot and took the body in their custody and sent it for postmortem. While on the statement of the injured, a case has been registered under the relevant section and the search for the absconding crane driver has started. At present, the police is conducting raids in search of the accused driver.
The police officer said that 35-year-old Gariba lived in a room built by the Public Works Department and worked for the department. Khemchand, Harkaur, Rameshwar, Ghanshyam, who were injured in the accident along with him, also worked as laborers for the PWD and all lived in the same room. The family members of the deceased and the injured live in their native village Thagari, Thana Pali, Lalitpur, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. They have been informed about the accident. The police officer said that on Tuesday morning at around 3:56 am, the police received information that a crane had entered a house near MB Road and a person died.
SHO along with his team reached the spot where a crane had entered the house and the wall of the house had collapsed. Police rescued the injured trapped under the debris of the wall and took them to the nearest hospital. Where the seriously injured Gariba was declared dead by the doctors. The rest of the injured are undergoing treatment. All the injured have injuries in their hands, legs and head. Police took the dead body of the deceased into custody and started investigation.
The crane was working at the metro site
Initial investigation by the police revealed that all the injured are labourers working for the Public Works Department while the crane belongs to BR Crane Company and has been kept for work in the Metro project going on at Okhla T-point. Deepak, a security guard posted at the Metro site, told the police in his statement that the crane driver took out his crane from the Metro site to take it to Tughlakabad and when he tried to turn his crane towards Tughlakabad on MB Road, the crane driver lost control over the crane. The speed of the crane was high, due to which the crane entered this house located on the opposite carriageway. The police have registered a case on the statement of Deepak and the injured and started investigation.
a sudden loud noise
In his statement to the police, the injured Ghanshyam said that all of them had finished their work late on Monday night and went to their room to sleep. Late at night, a loud noise was heard and the wall of the house collapsed. The injured said that they did not know that the crane had entered the house. When the wall fell on them, everyone got trapped in the debris. After the wall collapsed, some part of the roof also broke and fell.
