Nashik district in Maharashtra produces the maximum onion. Here this crop is seen as a cash crop. Most of the people in the state depend on its cultivation. Experts say that farmers usually get the price of onion from Rs 30 to 40 per kg, that is, one quintal onion is sold from Rs 3000 to Rs 4000 per kg. But this year its prices have gone down from Rs 10 to Rs 15 per kg.

In Aurangabad, the minimum price was Rs. 200 per quintal, the maximum rate was Rs. 1100 per quintal, the average price was Rs. 900 per quintal. In Aurangabad, the minimum price was Rs 100 per quintal, the maximum price was Rs 1600 per quintal, the average price was Rs 650 per quintal. In Nashik onion market, the minimum price was Rs 100 per quintal, the maximum price was Rs 1184 per quintal and the average rate was Rs 835 per quintal.

In the mandis of Uttar Pradesh, paddy basmati was priced at Rs.3792 per quintal, wheat around Rs.2600 per quintal, maize around Rs.1970 per quintal, barley at Rs.2850 per quintal, bajra at Rs.2100 per quintal, jowar at Rs.2700 per quintal.
