Now the options for passengers’ favorite food while traveling in the train will increase. Under the e-Catering facility of IRCTC, passengers will now be able to order food in the train from Zomato and Swiggy at Varanasi Cantt station. Zomato facility has started. Whereas Swiggy will also start online food delivery soon.
These online food delivery companies have agreements with almost all the hotels and restaurants in the city. Under this, as soon as the train reaches the Cantt station, passengers can order dishes like Bati Chokha, Banarasi Kachori, Jalebi and Banarasi Lassi in the train. Under IRCTC’s e-Catering, passengers can order their favorite food online at their designated station using their PNR number during their journey.
Till now one has to order food or breakfast three hours before the train reaches the station. This system is still running. Both veg and non-veg are delivered in the train. Only restaurants and hotels registered under e-Catering can provide this facility. No one else has this right. However, after Zomato connects with IRCTC, passengers will get more options in food.
