The Rohini Court has granted bail to accused Narendra Mann after six years of custody in a murder case. The court took this decision when only two witnesses were questioned in the investigation and 37 other witnesses were yet to be questioned. Due to which the trial process is likely to take more time. However, accused Narendra Mann will be kept in judicial custody in other cases.
Narender Mann is alleged to be a member of the Gogi gang and an FIR was registered against him in 2018 in connection with the murder of property dealer and suspected arms supplier Bablu Kheda. The police suspected gang war in the case registered at Ashok Vihar police station. Bablu Kheda was murdered outside his car in Ashok Vihar area where he was shot by armed assailants. Kheda was involved in various property disputes and the police had declared him a bad character in the area.
In 2019, Delhi Police filed a chargesheet in this case and the case is currently in the prosecution evidence stage. Cases are also registered against Narendra Mann under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) of 1999.
The court has granted bail to Narendra Mann on the condition of furnishing a personal bond of Rs 25,000 and a surety amount of the same amount. Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Babru Bhan, while granting bail, also ensured that the accused will not try to influence any witness nor tamper with the evidence. ASJ Babru Bhan ordered on August 24 that regular hearing should be held and the accused needs to appear in court. After Narendra Mann’s bail, the court has made it clear that he will remain in judicial custody in other cases and the hearing of this case will continue further.
