OP Chautala Family tree: Haryana’s veteran leader and four-time Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala passed away on Friday. He was 89 years old. It is being told that he died due to a heart attack. He breathed his last at his residence in Gurugram. Om Prakash Chautala’s demise is a big blow not only for the Chautala family but also for the politics of Haryana. Actually, the Chautala family has been active in Haryana politics for a long time. At present the third generation of this family is in politics.
Om Prakash Chautala’s father Chaudhary Devi Lal was also associated with politics, he was also the Chief Minister of the state twice. In Haryana politics, Devi Lal Chaudhary has been known as Tau. He held the post of CM of Haryana in 1977 and 1987. It is said that when Om Prakash Chautala was caught at Delhi Airport in a smuggling case, Devi Lal Chaudhary had thrown him out of the house. However, when Chaudhary Devi Lal had to leave the post of CM in 1989, he chose his eldest son Om Prakash Chautala.
How is Om Prakash Chautala’s family?
Chaudhary Devi Lal, two-time CM of Haryana, was married to Harki Devi, they had four sons and a daughter. The eldest among them was Om Prakash Chautala. After this Pratap Chautala, Ranjit Singh Chautala and Jagdish Chautala. However, Chaudhary Devi Lal handed over his legacy to Om Prakash Chautala due to his influence among the workers, after which OP Chautala traveled to the level of Chief Minister of Haryana. OP Chautala has two sons, in which the name of the elder son is Ajay Chautala and the name of the younger son is Abhay Chautala.
When there was disunity in the family
The rift in Chaudhary Devi Lal Chautala’s family started when Om Prakash Chautala and his son Ajay Chautala were jailed for 10 years in the JBT scam in 2013. After this Abhay Chautala took command of INLD party. in 2014 Lok Sabha elections Along with this, Abhay Chautala’s elder son Dushyant Chautala entered politics and was elected MP from Hisar Lok Sabha seat. INLD party suffered a major defeat in the assembly elections held after he became MP, after which the Chautala family got divided into two camps. One faction of the party sided with Abhay Chautala and the other side with Dushyant Chautala. In 2018, OP Chautala expelled Ajay Chautala’s two sons Dushyant and Digvijay from the party. After this Abhay Chautala completely took over INLD. In December 2018, after leaving INLD, Abhay Chautala’s elder son Dushyant Chautala formed Jananayak Janata Party.
