Now passengers will be able to order food through WhatsApp. This initiative has been started by the Railways only to make the e-catering service customer focused.

Apart from WhatsApp, you can also place online food order by visiting IRCTC website www.ecatering.irctc.co.in. For this you have to go to this website. After that you have to enter the name and number of your train. After selecting the boarding date and station, click on Find Food, and then select the restaurant of your choice, after that the food has to be selected. You order food by entering your PNR number, and enjoy eating at your seat.
Just started in some trains only
In fact, initially WhatsApp communication of e-catering services has been implemented for the passengers of some select trains. Based on the feedback and suggestions of the customers, Indian Railways will implement it in other trains as well. Currently, about 50,000 plates of food are being served to customers a day through IRCTC’s e-catering services, which are being enabled through its website as well as through the app. Rail passengers can also give feedback and suggestions on this WhatsApp.

Initially, Railways has planned two phases to provide e-catering service through WhatsApp communication. In the first step, the business WhatsApp number will send a message to the customer booking the e-ticket to select the e-catering service by clicking on the link www.ecatering.irctc.co.in. Through this option, customers will be able to book food from restaurants available at stations through IRCTC’s e-catering website. You will not need to download IRCTC app to order food from WhatsApp.
