Doordarshan’s Byomkesh Bakshi said that despite advancements in technology, the impact and power of movie theaters cannot be replicated. That means, the impact of OTT platforms is not going to outweigh the impact of movie theaters in any way.
Rajit Kapoor spoke during the 6th edition of the National Conference on Media and Journalism (NCMJ). Let us tell you that this conference was organized by the Department of Media and Communication of MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU).
During an interaction session with students here, the actor stressed on the importance of movie theaters despite the digital transformation brought about by social media and OTT platforms.

Rajit Kapoor said, “If you are watching a movie in the theatre, you get immersed in the content of the movie, its story and its scenes. They surround you from all sides. You become part of that story. The film in the theater absorbs you. But you cannot get this experience in iPad, screen monitor or phone.
Rajit Kapoor further said, “I think we have to understand this. I also watch content on OTT. But I like going to the theater and getting immersed in that story. From which you come out. This is a kind of experience.
The power and influence of theaters cannot be replicated
The actor further said that despite development in technology, the power of theaters and its impact cannot be replicated. This means that OTT cannot have the same impact that theaters have on the audience.
What did Rajit Kapoor say on the impact of social media?
Rajit also talked about the impact of social media on the minds of the youth and the concerns related to it. He said that social media has deeply made its place in our lives today. On the concerns related to this, he said that it is important to consider our responsibilities regarding this.
The actor said – I support freedom of expression, but we should also take care of our social responsibility while going online. He said that one should think before posting anything without thinking.
Emphasizing on maintaining balance, he said that youth are the foundation of this country, the future of the country will take its shape only through their action, reaction and mindset. Therefore it is important that they should think carefully.
