Owing these many sim cards dangerous for you 2 Lakh fine with legal trouble know limit

SIM Rules Under Telecom Act: The Telecom Act 2023 has been implemented in India. In this, the government has made many strict rules to prevent fraud with people and fraud on calls. In the rules, special attention has been given to how many SIM cards people can get in their name. If a person breaks these rules, strict action will be taken against him.

How many sims can be issued

According to the Telecom Act 2023, the number of SIM cards a person can get in his name depends entirely on where he lives. If a person lives in the licensed service areas (LSA) of Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and Northeast India, then he can get only six SIMs. Due to being a sensitive area, the limit has been kept low here. Apart from these areas, in all other places of the country, people can get nine SIM cards issued in their name.

You will have to pay a heavy fine for breaking the rules

According to the new rules, if someone takes more SIMs than the prescribed number, action will be taken against him. The accused person will have to pay a fine of up to Rs 50,000 under the Telecom Act. Not only this, if the accused does something like this repeatedly, he will have to pay a fine of up to Rs 2 lakh.

Apart from this, if any person obtains a SIM card by fraud, cheating or using wrong means, then he can be punished with imprisonment of up to 3 years or fine of up to Rs 50 lakh or both.

Is someone else using the SIM card in your name?

Many times it happens that cyber fraudsters are using a SIM card in your name, but you are not aware of it. To know this, you have to visit the government portal www.sancharsathi.gov.in and after filling the required information there, you will receive an OTP on your phone.

After filling this OTP, a new page will open where all the mobile numbers that are linked to your Aadhaar card will be given. This will let you know if someone is using the SIM card taken in your name.
