Paddy Procurement Chhattisgarh Government procure 160 mt paddy from this date


This time the Chhattisgarh government has set an estimated target of purchasing 160 lakh MT paddy for the Kharif marketing season of 2024-25. Giving information about this, officials said that in the current Kharif marketing season, a meeting of the Council of Ministers sub-committee constituted to review and give suggestions on the policy of purchasing paddy at support price and ‘custom milling’ was held in Mantralaya Naya Raipur. In which it was decided to purchase paddy at support price.

A meeting was held here under the chairmanship of State Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Dayaldas Baghel. In which the decision was taken to purchase an estimated 160 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from the farmers of the state. Minister of Cabinet Sub-Committee, Forest and Climate Change and Cooperation Minister Kedar Kashyap, Health and Family Welfare and 20 Point Implementation Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal and Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Tankaram Verma participated in this meeting.

Officials told in the meeting that keeping in mind the festival of Diwali and the state festival on the state foundation day, the issue of starting paddy procurement from November 15 was discussed in detail. It is a different matter that the final decision in this regard will be taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai. He informed that paddy will be purchased from registered farmers in the state at the rate of 21 quintals per acre on support price.

Last year 144.92 lakh MT paddy was purchased

In the last Kharif season, 144.92 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was purchased in the state at support price, that is why this time the target has been set at 160 lakh metric tonnes. The official said that procurement will be done through 2,058 cooperative societies and 2,739 paddy procurement centers in the state.
