Padma Awards 2024 Chiranjeevi VyjayanthiMala Bali honored with Padma Vibhushan, Mithun Chakraborty, Usha Uthpu and Vijaykant honored with Padma Bhushan.


Padma Awards 2024: Thursday evening was very special. Actually the Central Government announced the Padma Award. Many celebrities from the cinema world are also included among those honored with these awards. Veteran actresses Vyjayanti Mala and Chiranjeevi have been honored with the Padma Vibhushan award. Late Vijayakanth, Mithun Chakraborty and Usha Uthup were honored with Padma Bhushan.

Vyjayanthimala’s contribution to Indian cinema
Vyjayantimala Bali was one of the most beautiful and talented actresses of Indian cinema. He started his acting career at the age of 16 with the Tamil film Vaazhakai (1949). His first Hindi film was Bahaar, which was released in 1951. Later, Vyjayantimala Bali also acted in several films of the 1950s and 1960s, including Devdas, Naya Daur, Asha, Sadhna, Gunga Jamna, Sangam and Jewel Thief.

However, she never let her acting career overshadow the classical dancer in her, she oozed charisma on screen and mesmerized the audience with her twinkling eyes that could convey many emotions. Interestingly, he was also awarded Padmashree in the year 1968.

Saira Banu congratulated Vyjayanthimala
After the announcement of Vyjayantimala being honored with the Padma Vibhushan Award, Saira Banu has congratulated the veteran actress. Speaking to E-Times, Banu said that Vyjayanthimala “truly deserves” the honour. Saira Banu said, “I am very happy with it…this award is really well deserved…I have grown up watching her films. I am here and she is my ‘Akka’ (elder sister).”

Chiranjeevi’s contribution to Indian cinema
Chiranjeevi is one of the top actors of South Cinema, he has worked in more than 150 feature films in Telugu as well as Hindi, Tamil and Kannada. Some of his popular films include “Rudra Veena”, “Indra”, “Tagore”, “Swayam Krishi”, “Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy”, “Stalin” and “Gang Leader”. Earlier he was awarded Padma Bhushan in 2006.

Vijaykant posthumously awarded Padma Bhushan
Tamil actor and politician Vijayakanth, died in December 2023. He has been posthumously awarded Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of high order. Vijaykant was fondly called ‘Captain’ by his fans. Vijayakanth gained immense popularity for his stellar performances in Tamil hit films like “Vaidehi Kathirunthal”, “Amman Kovil Kizhakale”, “Poonthotta Kavalakaran”, “Chinna Gounder” and “Imandaar Raj”.

Mithun Chakraborty honored with Padma Bhushan
73-year-old Mithun Chakraborty has had an illustrious career in Indian cinema with many hit films. His first film was “Mrigaya”, for which he also received the National Film Award for Best Actor. Mithu Nane has done many great Hindi films like “Disco Dancer”, “Agneepath”, “Ghar Ek Mandir”, “Jallaad” and “Pyaar Jhukta Nahi”.

Usha Uthup was also honored with Padma Bhushan.
76 year old pop diva Usha Uthup is known for her unique voice. In the 1970s, he became a jazz pioneer for Indian cinema lovers. Some of his memorable tracks include “Ramba Ho”, “One Too Cha Cha”, “Shaan Se”, “Koi Yahaan Nache Nache” and “Hari Om Hari”.

‘Padma Awards’ are the country’s highest civilian awards
Let us tell you that Padma Award – one of the highest civilian awards of the country, is awarded in three categories, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
