The decision was announced after hearing PTI’s petition challenging the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) declaring the inter-party election invalid and canceling their election symbol “Balla”. Following the verdict, the court ordered the election watchdog to issue a certificate to PTI and suspended the decision that had stripped the party of its symbol.

Arguments of ECP and PTI heard

The court said that PTI is a political party which is entitled to the election symbol. A two-member PHC bench of Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Arshad Ali gave this decision. A day earlier, i.e. on Tuesday, the court had heard the arguments of the lawyers of ECP and PTI. In today’s hearing, the court heard other parties in the case.

No one can stop PTI from winning the elections

Speaking to the media outside the PHC after the announcement of the decision, PTI’s lawyer Barrister Ali Zafar said, ‘Now, no one can stop PTI from winning this election.’ Praising the decision, the PTI senator said that the PHC has maintained its tradition of announcing decisions as per the law. He said the court has ordered PTI to restore its bat election symbol and immediately upload the inter-party election results on its website.
