Pakistan Election Results 2024 Supreme Court brigadier Ali Khan Qazi Faez Isa Muhammad Ali Mazhar Musarrat Hilali

Pakistan Election Results 2024: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday (21 February 2024) rejected a petition requesting for fresh elections over alleged irregularities in the general elections held on 8 February, terming it as a “gimmick to gain popularity”.

Supreme Court imposed fine on the petitioner

The Supreme Court also imposed a fine on the former army officer and the petitioner for not appearing before the court. Retired Brigadier Ali Khan had last week requested the Supreme Court to order fresh elections within 30 days under the supervision of the judiciary to “ensure fairness, transparency and accountability”.

Petitioner did not appear despite hearing twice

He had also requested for an order to put a stay on the formation of a new government until the matter is resolved. However, the petitioner did not appear during the hearing twice consecutively.

A fine of 5,00,000 Pakistani rupees was imposed on the petitioner.

After this, the bench of Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Musarrat Hilali disposed of the petition and imposed a fine of Pakistani rupees 5,00,000 on the petitioner.

Ali Khan is a former army officer

Earlier, the court was informed that Ali is a former brigadier against whom court martial action was taken in 2012 and he was dismissed from service.

Chief Justice rejected the petition

The Chief Justice read an email sent by the petitioner to the apex court in which he said that he was abroad and wanted to withdraw his petition. Chief Justice Isa rejected the petition, calling it a ‘gimmick to gain popularity’.
