Pakistan financially ruined after conducting nuclear tests Pakistani economist revealed secrets

Pakistan Nuclear Test: On this day, i.e. 28 May 1998, Pakistan conducted its first nuclear test and joined the list of nuclear-rich countries in the world. Pakistan is celebrating today, but some experts of Pakistan say that Pakistan’s nuclear program ruined Pakistan. Pakistan started its nuclear program to compete with India. Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Zulfikar Bhutto himself testified to this, who is called the father of Pakistan’s nuclear program.

Zulfiqar Bhutto, while being the foreign minister in 1965, had said that ‘if India makes a nuclear bomb, then whether Pakistan has to eat grass, leaves or stay hungry, we will get the nuclear bomb.’ Three decades after this statement, Pakistan did become a nuclear power, but since then Pakistan is also known as the poorest country with nuclear power. Now even the scholars of Pakistan believe that Pakistan had shot itself in the foot by conducting nuclear tests.

Pakistan’s nuclear test was a big mistake
Pakistani economist Yusuf Nazar has called Pakistan’s nuclear test a big mistake. He wrote on X, ‘Pakistan had no need to conduct a nuclear test in 1998. It was a reaction to please the public, which was done just 17 days after India’s nuclear test. Pakistan had developed nuclear capability long before Nawaz Sharif came to power in February 1997.’

Pakistan suffered losses due to nuclear test
Yusuf Nazar claimed that the nuclear test has only caused harm to Pakistan. Due to this, Pakistan had to face many sanctions, investment stopped coming to Pakistan. He claimed that despite the massive American aid after the 9/11 attack in 2001, it could never reach the previous level. Between 2002 and 2007, Pakistan received a total of 12 billion dollars in aid from America.

Threats to the safety of nuclear weapons
The Pakistani economist said that after this Pakistan made another big mistake by starting the Kargil war. He described this war as a disaster. He said that it was Pakistan’s misfortune that it was ruled by incompetent and dwarf people who did not have foresight. In 1998, Nawaz Sharif had a two-thirds majority, while Pervez Musharraf was a military dictator. Apart from this, Yusuf also expressed concern about the security of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons.
