Pakistan Loot: A shopping mall named Dream Bazaar was to be inaugurated in Karachi, Pakistan. Discounts were also kept to make its opening grand but the Pakistani public turned it into chaos. This day which started with the promise of selling goods at a price less than 50 Pakistani rupees ended with violence and vandalism.

Pakistan’s first mega thrift store was heavily promoted on social media. Huge discounts were offered on clothes, accessories and household items on the opening day. When thousands of people gathered outside the mall, the management had a tough time controlling the growing crowd.

The crowd vandalized the mall

When they tried to close the doors to control the situation, people armed with sticks forcefully broke the glass entry gate, ARY News reported. The situation turned so dire that the city’s traffic came to a standstill and thousands of people were seen standing outside the mall. Eyewitnesses said there was a lot of damage to property. Some people alleged that there was no police presence, while others said the police were attacking passersby.

Everything vanished in half an hour

During the vandalism, people made videos of people stealing clothes. Another eyewitness said that all this happened within half an hour. He opened the shop at 3 pm and by 3:30 pm all the goods had been stolen. It is said that this building was built by a Pakistani origin person living abroad. The mall staff was also shocked by the vandalism.

“We brought it for the benefit of the people of Karachi. But instead of a smooth opening, we were met with chaos. There is very little investment in Karachi and when it happens, this is the result,” lamented an upset employee.
