Pakistan national airline instructs pilots cabin crew against flying while fasting in Ramadan

Pakistan Latest News: Pakistan’s national airline company Pakistan International Airlines has asked its pilots and crew members not to fast while on duty in the month of Ramadan. PIA has also given the reason behind this. Citing medical advice, he said that by fasting, a person has to face dehydration, laziness and sleep problems.

Corporate safety management and crew medical requested

Both the Corporate Safety Management and Crew Medical Center have recommended that PIA pilots and crew members should not fast during flight. “Based on these recommendations, the top management of PIA has issued compliance orders to the pilot and crew members with immediate effect,” a PIA official said.

Do not fast during international or domestic flights

Citing the recommendations, pilots and crew members have been asked not to fast when they are on duty for international or domestic flights. The Aircraft Investigation Board team released its findings last month on the crash of the plane that crashed into a crowded area of a residential society near Karachi Airport in May 2020.

A terrible accident has occurred due to human errors.

The board had blamed human errors for this accident. The report also held the PIA and the Civil Aviation Authority responsible for not having clear rules regarding whether pilots should fast during the month of Ramadan while on duty.
