Pakistan terrorist attack on Naval Base Balochistan Syed Ahmed Umrani Balochistan Liberation Army

Pakistan terrorist attack on Naval Base: Armed Baloch militants tried to enter an important naval base in Balochistan province of Pakistan, but the security forces there foiled the attack and killed 6 terrorists. The terrorists were trying to carry out this incident in Turbat district on the night of Monday (25 March 2024).

Talking about the incident, Makran Commissioner Syed Ahmed Umrani told the media that security forces foiled a terrorist attack on PNS Siddiqui Naval Air Base. This naval air base is one of the largest naval air stations in the country.

“The armed men attacked from three sides of the airport border, but the security forces immediately retaliated and foiled their attempt to infiltrate the premises,” he said.

Eyewitnesses said they heard gunfire and explosions throughout the night. A security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that six terrorists were killed in the operation and they failed to cause any damage to the air station or the aircraft.

The official said that there was no damage to the sensitive naval air station. The banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed that its Majeed Brigade was behind the attack.

This was the third major attack on security forces and establishments in Balochistan for which BLA has claimed responsibility. Both the earlier attacks were also foiled by the security forces.

Earlier in the beginning of the year, security forces were attacked in Mach city in which 10 people were killed, but the security forces did not allow the attempt to enter Mach jail to succeed.

Last week, security forces had killed 8 terrorists who were trying to enter the Gwadar Port Authority complex located in the same province. BLA had claimed responsibility for the attack on March 24. Violence has been going on for a long time in Balochistan, bordering Iran and Afghanistan.

In the past, Baloch insurgent groups have carried out several attacks targeting the US$60 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.

BLA opposes China’s investment in Balochistan. He accuses China and Pakistan of exploiting the resource-rich province. The authorities have rejected this allegation. BLA’s Majeed Brigade was formed in 2011, which is the guerrilla cell of the organization.
