Pappu’s lassi in Damoh reminds of Kashi, where lassi is eaten and not drunk – News18 Hindi

Arpit Barkul, Damoh. There is also a shop reminiscent of Kashi’s lassi in Bundelkhand, Madhya Pradesh. Yes, the lassi here is not drunk, but eaten with a spoon. There is a famous shop called Pappu ki Lassi in Futera Ward No. 2 of Damoh district, where after eating lassi, people stay in Damoh and enjoy the delicious taste of Kashi.

Pappu’s lassi is so thick that when a spoon is put in a glass, the spoon becomes straight. This is the reason why people prefer to eat this lassi instead of drinking it. Shop owner Piyush Chaurasia told that curd is whipped with ice for a long time in an aluminum jar, after which a few drops of sugar and rose water change the taste of lassi. When the lassi is poured directly from the jar into the glass, a layer of thick cream falls on it, then there is no response to that lassi, as soon as a large glass of cold lassi is brought near the mouth, the customer is attracted by its smell. A smile comes on his face.

After applying Pappu’s lassi to the lips, no one forgets to put thick curd sticking on the big moustache. Yes, the taste of lassi at Pappu Lassi Wale’s place is such that people stand in queues. There is a shop by the name of Pappu Lassi in the narrow streets of Damoh and a short distance from the clock tower. Whoever passes through this path will move forward only after drinking lassi. The shop operator says that when the shop was started, it was Rs 20 a glass, but with the changing times and rising inflation day by day, the price of a glass of lassi has been kept at Rs 25.

Rohit Thakur, an avid customer of lassi, told that whenever he has to pass through this route during summers, Pappu definitely comes to the shop of the lassi seller and drinks lassi here. I have been their customer for the last 5 years. The taste of lassi here cannot be found anywhere else in Bundelkhand.
