The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. The SP candidate won one seat, while the remaining three seats were won by independent candidates.

BJP’s Kanubhai Mohanlal Desai defeated Congress’ Jayshreeben Patel by 97,164 votes in Pardi assembly seat in Valsad district. BJP candidate got 1,21,968 i.e. 73.43 percent votes. Whereas, Jayshreeben Patel of Congress got 24,804 votes. You were at number three. Its candidate Ketanbhai Kishorebhai Patel got 15,306 votes, which was 9.22 percent of the total votes. The deposits of five including Congress and AAP candidates were forfeited. Whereas, NOTA got 2,316 votes.

Congress got victory in 2017

Pardi seat was won by the BJP in the 2017 assembly elections. In this election, BJP had made Kanubhai Mohanlal Desai its candidate from this seat. Desai defeated Bharatbhai Patel of Congress by 52,000 votes. A total of 11 candidates were in the fray here. Apart from these two, the deposits of the remaining 13 candidates were forfeited. Kanubhai has won this seat thrice in a row. Before 2022 and 2017, Kanubhai had won on BJP ticket in 2012 as well. Prior to the delimitation, this seat was reserved for the Scheduled Tribes. In 2007 too, the BJP had won from here.

The Congress won the Pardi seat in 2002 and the BJP in 1998 and 1995. Whereas, in 1980, 1985 and 1990, Congress won here. In 1975 elections, Jansangh, in 1967 and 1972, Congress won here. In 1962, the Praja Socialist Party won the Pardi seat.
