On Monday, GRP caught a passenger with Rs 1 crore 84 lakh 29 thousand foreign currency near the passenger hall of Varanasi Cantt Railway Station. Income Tax, Customs, ATS, IB and other intelligence agencies interrogated the passenger. ED seized the recovered currency and took the passenger to its headquarters in Prayagraj. According to the passenger, he works in a money transfer company. He was going from Bodhgaya to Lucknow.

CO GRP Kunwar Prabhat Singh said that the arrested accused Sandeep Kumar Jaiswal is a resident of Mathura Bazaar of Balrampur Lalia police station area. Information was received that a passenger had a lot of foreign currency. GRP caught the passenger near the passenger hall. Currency from America, Singapore, Thailand, Russia, Australia, Hong Kong and China has been found from him.

GRP Inspector Hemant Singh said that accused Sandeep could not show the documents related to the recovered currency. During interrogation, Sandeep told that he works in a money transfer company. He was going to Lucknow with currency from Bodh Gaya. The company has offices in Bodhgaya and Lucknow. He had come from Gaya to Varanasi by bus and was about to go to Lucknow by train from Cantt station.

GRP Inspector said that information about the recovered currency was given to Income Tax, Customs, DRI, ATS and ED, IB. All the agencies have interrogated the passenger. ED has confiscated the recovered currency and taken the passenger with itself to its headquarters in Prayagraj. The arrest team included Sub Inspector Dinesh Kumar, Yogendra Bahadur Singh, Vikas Pandey etc.
