Passport Seva Program 2.0 E-passport Technology In India Soon


India is preparing to start the second phase of Passport Seva Program (PSP-Version 2.0). Let me tell you, on the occasion of Passport Seva Diwas, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had announced this. This new phase will introduce Advance and Advance e-Passport, which reflects the country’s commitment to provide efficient and accessible passport services to its citizens.

According to the news, in his message, Jaishankar outlined the purpose of the Passport Seva Program Version 2.0, linking it with the Prime Minister’s vision of enhancing ease of living for citizens. Highlighting the achievements of the Passport Seva Programme, Jaishankar complimented all passport issuing authorities in India and abroad as well as their colleagues in the Central Passport Organisation. He highlighted the importance of Passport Seva Diwas as an opportunity to assess progress and reiterate India’s commitment to achieving the highest standards in passport service delivery. The Ministry of External Affairs shared Jaishankar’s message on Twitter, reaffirming its dedication towards providing timely, reliable, accessible, transparent and efficient passport services to citizens.

Strong growth in Passport Seva Kendras

The effect of the Kovid-19 epidemic was seen. On this, Jaishankar highlighted the efforts of the Ministry of External Affairs to increase the demand for passport related services. In the year 2022, the ministry has made a record breaking 13.32 million passports and other services available, which is 63% more than in 2021. Over the years, there has been a significant increase in the number of Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs), from 77 in 2014 to 523 today.
