The local people fiercely protested against the police for removing the encroachment in Patna City. Because of this there was a clash between the police and the local people. During this, a shopkeeper took out thinner from his own shop and set himself on fire. Seeing him burning, the people around ran to save him. In order to save him, three other people also got scorched. The shopkeeper who set himself on fire has been identified as Anil Kumar.

Over the years many shops have been located near Mehndiganj Railway Gumti in Gulzarbagh. People say that the land on which all these shops are situated is being forcibly removed by the Railways by claiming that it is their land. Shopkeepers say that the matter is pending in the court. But on Thursday Gulzarbagh RPF and GRP jawans reached there and called those shops illegal and started vacating them in the name of encroachment. Due to this ongoing dispute, the shopkeepers were sitting there on strike since morning. Talks started from both the sides but slowly the talk started turning into an argument and the matter became fierce. Then, within no time, a clash started from both the sides. Meanwhile shopkeepers Anil Kumar and Munna Kumar set themselves on fire. As soon as the fire broke out, there was an atmosphere of chaos.
