The case of the death of a BJP leader from Jehanabad during the protest march against the teacher recruitment policy of the Bihar government has caught fire. A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court in this matter. The petition sought a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of the BJP leader or constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by a retired apex court judge.

According to the information, this PIL has been filed by Bhupesh Narayan through advocate Varun Sinha. In this, a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry has been demanded into the death of the BJP leader on March 13. Also sought a direction to the investigating agency to take possession of all the FIRs lodged by the local police of Patna in connection with the incident. Along with this, a demand has been made to investigate the role of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, Director General of Police, Senior Superintendent of Police, District Magistrate of Patna (Respondent No. 1 to 6) and other officers.

The petition alleged that the state government was engaged in shielding the real culprits of the incident which took place during a peaceful procession organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party. The petition states that the abuse of power against Indian citizens is a serious violation of individual fundamental rights and a threat to public safety.

The petition states that the participation of individuals in democratic processes depends on its fairness and integrity. It also states that it is the duty of the respondents to ensure that the public is informed about the perpetrators, the scale and impact of these criminal acts and the violation of fundamental rights and the measures taken to prevent such further incidents.

Let us tell you that on July 13, a BJP leader from Jehanabad was allegedly killed during police lathicharge when he was participating in BJP’s protest march against Bihar government’s teacher recruitment policy. The deceased BJP leader was Vijay Kumar Singh, general secretary of Jehanabad district. He was found unconscious at Chhajju Bagh, barely 500 meters from the protest site.

A large number of teachers have protested against the state cabinet’s decision to remove the domicile clause for applicant teachers. The BJP has supported his protest. Also demanded the Bihar government to restore the domicile clause. Not only this, Tejashwi’s resignation has also been sought after the charge sheet was filed in an alleged scam.
