Mickey Arthur: After the upheavals in Pakistan cricket last month, the search for a new head coach is on. Mickey Arthur is leading the race for this post. Mickey Arthur has been the coach of the Pakistan team before. PCB chairman Najam Sethi once again wants to hand over the reins of the Pakistan team to him. However, till now no clear answer has come from Mickey Arthur.
A PCB source has told PTI, ‘Mickey Arthur currently has a long contract with Derbyshire County. PCB has talked to him and has also given time to consider this new opportunity. Arthur has said that he will be able to give a clear answer in this matter by the end of this month. The source says that Arthur is also keen to return as Pakistan coach but at the moment he wants some time before taking a decision.
Mickey Arthur was the head coach of Pakistan between 2016 and 2019. Then Najam Sethi was also the chairman of PCB. Mickey Arthur was released from the post only after the removal of Najam Sethi. Now that Najam Sethi has returned as PCB chairman, he has once again looked towards Mickey Arthur for the head coach.
Pakistan is in no hurry to choose head coach
New Zealand’s Pakistan tour ends on January 14. After this, the Pakistan team will not play any international match till April. This is because Pakistan Super League is to be organized in February-March. In such a situation, Pakistan is in no hurry to choose a head coach. In April, the Pakistan team will return to international cricket with the hosting of 5 ODIs against New Zealand.
