The population of ten thousand in Bodla area of Tajnagari Agra yearned for electricity and water throughout the day on Saturday. There was a shutdown from 9 am to 5 pm to increase capacity at Calvari Power Station. People could not fill water as the submersible pump and motor were not working. The sick and elderly had to face a lot of problems.
The information about the previously announced cut off from the Sikandra sub-centre of Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam (DVVNL) did not reach the affected areas on time. When people woke up on Saturday morning, their lights were off. Areas fed by Bigha Nagar, Anand Nagar, Gulab Nagar, Vinay Nagar, Maruti Residency, Brij Vihar, Bodla Sarai, Mahore Nagar, Bainara feeder were affected. The capacity of Calvary Power Station is 5 MW. Which was shut down to 10 MW. Due to which there was no electricity for more than 8 hours in more than 20 areas.
Here, strong winds blew in the morning. The wires broke. The rain caused faults in power lines at many places. A cement electric pole standing on the roadside in Jaipur House fell. Fortunately, there was no loss of life. A car parked outside the house was damaged.
Area resident Anil Verma said that a major accident could have happened due to the negligence of the electricity department. There was chaos among the people due to the fall of the old cement pillar. On the other hand, due to rain, there was waterlogging near the flyover located at Sector 12 Mor. Vehicles kept slipping in mud and dirt.
