With this, patients will not have to wait for these reports and services for a long time. The objective of this initiative of Maharashtra Government is to provide timely services in remote areas in collaboration with private organizations.
Maharashtra government will outsource MRI and CT scan services
Let us tell you that recently the Public Health Department has signed several agreements with private firms for the establishment and management of 22 MRI and 31 CT scan facilities. In this, Krishna Diagnostic and Unique Wellness have won the tender for MRI and CT SCAN services, while on the other hand, Escag Sanjeevani of Kolkata has taken up the responsibility of maintaining dialysis services at 68 centres. The responsibility of these companies will be to develop infrastructure within the premises of government hospitals, purchase health related machines, hiring of employees and monitoring the operations. Here these companies will provide free treatment to the patients and in return will take the bill from the government for the services provided to the government. Along with this, there is talk of more than a dozen cardiac cath labs established by the state being managed by private agencies.
Deals are being made with private companies for ten years
Dheeraj Kumar, Commissioner of Health State Services in Maharashtra, said that people living in remote areas will get better facilities for life-saving treatment which was not available in the public system earlier. He said that patients from remote areas like Gadchiroli, Nandurbar, Bhandara and Chandrapur etc. will now get life-saving medicines and treatments which were earlier not available in the public system. He said that the state government has made a deal with these companies for ten years, which will provide ample time for cost recovery as well as recovery of the investment made.
Private companies will provide these services in these remote areas and in return will bill the government at CGHS rates. Let us tell you that Unique Wellness and Krishna Diagnostics companies will operate MRI centers in Thane, Pune and rest of the state and simultaneously both the companies will handle the management of CT scan facilities. About 15 patients will be served every day in each MRI center. On the other hand, the maximum number of people who can undergo CT scan can be 20.
