The number of deaths is increasing amidst the rain of embers from the sky. There was a pile of bodies in the mortuary of SRN Hospital on Tuesday. After the two deep freezers installed here got filled, the bodies were kept one above the other in the hall. By around 7:30 in the evening, post-mortem of 36 bodies could be done. However, the turn of about 50 bodies did not come.
Even though the temperature dropped on Tuesday, the number of deaths in the district did not decrease. The postmortem House was piled up with so many bodies that it became difficult for the relatives to identify the bodies of their loved ones. Due to the large number of bodies, both the deep freezers here were filled.
Due to the heat, the stench from the bodies was so strong that it became difficult for people to stand there. The ACs installed inside are also not working. Due to this, the workers and doctors are facing difficulties in conducting post-mortems.
The doctor who did the post mortem felt dizzy
On Tuesday afternoon, a doctor who was conducting the postmortem felt dizzy due to the heat and foul smell. During this time, other doctors and pharmacists present there took him out and took him to another room. After a while, when he felt better, the postmortem was started again.
