Whose Shraddha is performed on the second day?
On Wednesday, September 19, the Shradh of those ancestors will be performed who died on the second day of any month. According to the Hindu calendar, the Shradh of both Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha can be performed on the second day. Those who do not remember the death date of their father should perform Shradh on the day of Pitru Visarjan.
Auspicious time for the second date (Pitru paksha Shubh Muhurat)
There are three auspicious times for the Shradh of Dwitiya Tithi. On 19 September 2024, Thursday, Kutup Muhurta starts from 11:50 am to 12:39 pm. After this, Rohin Muhurta starts from 12:39 pm to 1:28 pm. The Muhurta of afternoon period starts from 1:28 pm to 3:54 pm. Dwitiya Shradh ends on 20 September 2024, Saturday night at 12:39 pm.
What to do on Dwitiya Shraddha Karma?
On the day of Dwitiya Shraddha, people should invoke their ancestors by offering flowers at the main entrance of the house. Along with this, offer food (a portion) to crow, dog and cow, which are the symbols of Yamraj. Take flowers, milk and water in a vessel. Offer water kept in the vessel with Kush and black sesame seeds. After performing all these rituals, donate clothes, fruits and sweets to a Brahmin.
Who can perform Shraddha?
According to astrology, people of three generations can perform the Shradh on Dwitiya Tithi. Son, grandson, nephew and niece have the right to do it. This time there is no Kshay day in Pitru Paksha (Pitru Paksha 2024). In such a situation, Tarpan and Arpan can be done for 16 days. It is believed that during Pitru Paksha, ancestors come to their relatives’ house.
