There has been a 50% increase in the sale of special types of medicinal plants in various nurseries of Delhi. Among these, the demand for lemongrass and citronella plants is the highest. People are coming to buy them not only from Delhi but also from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. According to experts, these plants are natural mosquito repellents. Mosquitoes run away from the smell emanating from them.

Botany expert Rabinder Gangwar said that mosquitoes do not like the smell of these plants. Also, they consider their smell as a threat to themselves. They run away from it. Gangwar said that people can avoid mosquito-borne diseases by planting these plants at home. These plants need only two to three hours of sunlight. Not only this, they can also be planted in small pots. He said that the demand for these plants has increased a lot during the rainy season.
