Diwali 2024 Gift: The whole country is preparing to celebrate Diwali with pomp and show on 31st October. Like every year, this year also the governments of different states of India have come up with different types of schemes for the citizens and government employees of their respective states on Diwali. From the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh to the governments of many states including Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan have made big announcements.

The Modi government at the Center increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) of central employees by 3 percent. DA of central government employees was 50 percent of the basic salary. Now it has increased to 53 percent. More than one crore central government employees and pensioners will benefit from this.

Apart from free cylinder, Yogi government gave this gift

Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has announced free gas cylinders for the citizens of his state during Diwali. However, the benefit of free cylinder will be available only to those consumers who have done e-KYC. The state government has announced this for all the beneficiaries of Ujjwala gas. Under this, the beneficiaries will first buy gas by paying the money themselves and later the money for the cylinder will be returned to their bank account.

Yogi government has also given a gift to the government employees of Uttar Pradesh. The state government has announced to give bonus to about 8 lakh employees of UP. On Monday (21 October 2024), on the instructions of CM Yogi, orders were given to release the salaries of October to the state employees before Diwali. Employees and pensioners in UP will get their salaries on October 30.

Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (UPPCL) has given the gift of Diwali and Dhanteras to its consumers in the form of GST reduction. The Electricity Department has given exemption in 18% GST for 17 works. Now the consumer will not have to pay GST on meter charge on 872.

Assam government’s Diwali gift

Himanta Biswa Sarma government of Assam increased the dearness allowance (DA) of state government employees by three percent in view of Diwali. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that this increase will happen from July. DA will be payable from July and the outstanding amount will be paid in four equal installments along with monthly salary from January to April next year.

Government employees of Bihar got this gift

Keeping in mind the Diwali and Chhath festivals, Bihar government has also decided to release the salaries of the state employees for the month of October earlier. All state employees will be given their salary for the month of October in advance on October 25, 2024. This decision was taken by Bihar Finance Department Principal Secretary Anand Kishore after instructions from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary.

Madhya Pradesh government will provide cylinders at cheap rates

In view of the festivals of Dhanteras and Diwali, the Madhya Pradesh government has also given gifts to its employees and the people of the state. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had earlier announced to pay salaries to the employees before the festival. Now Govardhan Puja on the second day of Diwali has also been declared a holiday. The festival will be celebrated here for four days from 31st October to 3rd November. Apart from this, MP government is also going to give discount on gas cylinders. Mohan Yadav government will give a subsidy of Rs 398 on the gas cylinders of the beloved sisters in the state. Currently, domestic gas cylinder is available for Rs 884 in Madhya Pradesh, after this announcement of the government, now dear sisters will get the cylinder for only Rs 450.

Himachal-Rajasthan will get salary first

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has given Diwali gift to the government employees and pensioners of Himachal Pradesh. He announced that the salary and pension for the month of October will be transferred before Diwali. The salary and pension of October government employees of the state will be transferred on 28th only. In view of the festival, CM Sukhu has also announced the release of four percent DA installment payable from January 1, 2023.

Bhajanlal government of Rajasthan has given Diwali gifts to 8 lakh government employees of the state. Here, dearness allowance (DA) for government employees and pensioners has been increased by 3 percent. Till now the state employees used to get 50 percent dearness allowance, which has now increased to 53 percent. Increased dearness allowance will be given to employees from July 1.
