‘The Sabarmati Report’ is based on the Godhra incident.
Vikrant Massey’s film is based on the Godhra fire incident that took place on 27 February 2002. Then, in Godhra, Gujarat, the bogie of the Kar Sevaks traveling in the Sabarmati Express returning from Ayodhya was set on fire. 59 people lost their lives in this heart-wrenching incident.
A day later, from February 28, gruesome communal riots took place in Gujarat in which about 1000 people lost their lives.
