Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Amul Banas Dairy Plant in Pindra on 23 February. Apart from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandi Ben Patel, more than one lakh cowherds and farmers from Purvanchal including Varanasi will be present in the ceremony.

Banas Kashi Complex is spread over 30 acres. It is a milk processing plant of 8 LLPD (Lakh Liters Per Day). Rs 622 crore has been spent on this. At present, the milk business of Banas Dairy is spread in 4600 villages of 47 districts of Uttar Pradesh (seven in Purvanchal). This milk collection will expand to 7000 villages in 70 districts by next year, including expansion to 15 new districts in Purvanchal.

More than 600 committees are operational in Purvanchal. More than 1300 committees have been formed, which will increase to 2600 committees by the end of the year. Banas Dairy is currently working with 3.5 lakh milk producers in UP, out of which 58 thousand milk producers are from Purvanchal and Varanasi.

According to Banas Dairy, currently 5 chilling centers are functioning in Khushipur, Cholapur, Mirzapur, Ghazipur and Dubeypur and 8 more will become operational by next month. At present, more than 19 lakh liters of milk is being collected per day from Uttar Pradesh, out of which an average of 3 lakh liters of milk per day is coming from Purvanchal and Varanasi. By the end of this year in Uttar Pradesh, this number will increase to 25 lakh liters per day, of which 7 lakh liters per day will come from Varanasi and Purvanchal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of Banas Kashi Complex on 13 December 2021.

Banas Dairy is providing direct employment to 750 people and indirect employment to 81,000 people through its Varanasi plant. This also includes milk producers and farmers.
