Mohan Dhakale/Burhanpur. During the Mughal period, kings and emperors used such things so that no one could kill them. During that time such technology was used which is rarely seen anywhere today. There was one such glass, which could detect poison. This glass was made from cast glass.
This glass had glass on all sides and glass inside. This glass could detect poison. If someone mixed poison in water or any other beverage, this glass would expose the conspiracy. This memento of the Mughal period is still preserved by collectors in Burhanpur.
400 year old pot
Archaeological collector and physician Dr. Subhash Mane told Local 18 that this is a 400-year-old glass from the Mughal period, which was made of cast iron. There is a glass inside it. This glass detects poison. If someone mixed insecticide or poison with water and gave it to the kings, a different color would appear at the bottom of the glass, which would help them come to know about the conspiracy. During the times of kings and emperors, conspiracies to kill by poisoning were often hatched. In such a situation, glass was very useful.
the color was coming from the bottom of the glass
If poison or pesticide is mixed with water in this glass, then when you look through the glass, a green or red color appears in it. This confirms that something has been mixed in this water. After identification, people did not drink this water, which saved their lives.
Shahjahan-Mumtaz’s picture
The artists of the Mughal period have engraved the pictures of Shahjahan and Mumtaz on this glass. The length of this glass is half a foot. It contains half a liter of water.
