Mini samosa prepared with moong dal stuffing is very tasty and it is very popular among children. If there is a kitty party or any other event for children at home, mini samosas can be specially made and served in it. Children’s faces light up on seeing this.
The size of mini samosas is less than half of the normal samosas and it is filled with a masala prepared from moong dal instead of potatoes. It can be served during the day or with evening tea. Ingredients for making mini samosa
Maida – 1/2 cup
Moong Dal – 1/2 cup
Cumin – 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Fennel powder – 1 tsp
Green chili – 2-3
Green coriander – 2 tbsp
Asafoetida – 1 pinch
Ginger – 1 inch piece
Red chili powder – 1/4 tsp
Dry mango – 1/4 tsp
Garam masala – 1/4 tsp
Desi ghee – 1/4 cup
oil – as needed
salt – as per taste

Mini Samosa Recipe
To make mini samosas, first sift the flour in a vessel. After this add desi ghee and a pinch of salt to the flour and mix it well. Now add lukewarm water to the flour and knead a hard dough. After kneading the dough, cover it and keep it aside for 30 minutes to set. For mini samosas, take peeled moong dal, clean it, wash it and soak it in water for 2 hours. After this, mash the lentils with your hands and take out the peel.
Now put the dal on a sieve and separate the water. After this, grind the lentils with the help of a mixer. While grinding lentils, also add green chilies, green coriander and ginger to it. The dal has to be grinded coarsely. Now take out the coarse paste of dal in a vessel. After this, put 2 tbsp oil in the pan and heat it. When the oil becomes hot, add cumin and asafoetida and fry it. After some time add coriander powder, fennel and ground lentils, mix and fry.

Roast the dal while stirring it with a spoon. Now add red chili powder, dry mango powder, garam masala and salt as per taste to the lentils. Fry the dal until its color turns brown and all the water dries up. After the dal is dry, the stuffing i.e. pitti is ready to be filled in the samosas.

Now take a lump of fine flour and make small balls out of it and cover it with a cloth. Take one ball and with the help of a rolling pin roll it into a round shape like a puri. After this, with the help of a knife, divide it into two equal parts. Prepare a cone by taking one part and shaking the edge. Fill the prepared stuffing in it and shape it into a samosa by sticking all the edges with the help of water. Keep them separate in a plate. Similarly make all the mini samosas.
Now put oil in a pan and heat it on medium flame. When the oil becomes hot, add mini samosas according to the capacity of the pan and deep fry them. Fry the samosas till they turn golden brown from both the sides. After this take it out in a plate. Fry all the samosas in the same way. Tasty mini samosas are ready. Serve them with chutney or sauce.
