Mix Dal Recipe: After seeing Dal-Bati, there is hardly any person who does not want to eat it. Originating from Rajasthan, Dal Baati has spread all over the country and there is a long list of people who like it. The taste of dal baati doubles when the dal is made delicious. Somewhere Arhar (Tuar) dal is made for Dal Baati, and somewhere mixed dal is prepared and eaten. Today we will tell you how to make Rajasthani style mixed dal, which if you serve with Baati, the eaters will be forced to lick their fingers.

Ingredients for Mix Dal
Moong Dal โ 1/2 cup
Chana dal โ 1/4 cup
Arhar Dal โ 1/2 cup
Masoor dal โ 1/4 cup (optional)
Rai โ 1 tsp
Cumin โ 1 tsp
Onion finely chopped โ 1
Ginger-garlic paste โ 1 tsp
Tomato finely chopped โ 1
Garam masala โ 1/4 tsp
Kashmiri red chili powder โ 1/2 tsp
Green chili cut lengthwise โ 1
Green coriander leaves chopped โ 2 tbsp
Desi ghee โ 3 tsp
Asafoetida โ 1 pinch
salt โ as per taste
Mix Dal Recipe
To make a flavourful mixed dal, first of all clean all the dals. After this, soak chana dal in water for half an hour, so that it can soften properly. After the fixed time, put moong dal, chana dal, arhar dal and masoor dal in the pressure cooker, add one spoon of desi ghee and 3 cups of water and pressure cook till 56 whistles. While the dal is cooking, chop onion, tomato, coriander leaves and green chillies.
Now put 2 spoons of desi ghee in a pan and heat it. After melting the ghee, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and a pinch of asafoetida and fry them. After some time add finely chopped onion and ginger-garlic paste and fry while stirring. Then add chopped tomatoes and cook till soft. When the tomatoes become soft, add turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala and salt as per taste to the pan and mix well and let it cook on low flame.

Meanwhile, after the whistles in the cooker, turn off the gas and after releasing the pressure, open the lid of the cooker. Now put the cooked lentils in the pan and add 1 cup of water to it and mix it well with the help of a ladle. Now let the lentils boil for 5 minutes and then turn off the gas after adding green coriander leaves at the end. Tasty mix dal is ready to be served with Baati. Serve it hot only.
