In Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation, five executive engineers were promoted as superintending engineers against the rules. After the matter came to light, the promotions were cancelled on Thursday. Deputy Secretary Prashant Kumar, who prepared the list, has been suspended.
On August 24, the Power Corporation management promoted 40 executive engineers to the post of superintending engineer. After the list was released, a complaint was made to the higher management about the promotion of five executive engineers against the rules. The complaint was found to be true after investigation.

The service period of Executive Engineers Ajay Kumar Sinha and Pratish Pranjal working in the Corporation, Nand Kishore of Transmission, Madan Lal of KESCO and Rajneesh Kumar of Transmission Section Etawah was not found eligible for promotion.
For promotion, the tenure of the post of Assistant Engineer and Executive Engineer should be 15 years. Only after this, promotion to the post of Superintending Engineer is possible. The details of these engineers were also not verified by the Accounts Department. Wrong details were presented before the selection committee. In such a situation, the promotion of these five was cancelled and they have been directed to work on the post of Executive Engineer.
Prashant Kumar, superintending engineer (deputy secretary) who prepared the promotion list, has been suspended and attached from the Power Corporation headquarters Shakti Bhawan to the office of the director (personnel and administration) of Dakshinchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Agra.
Detailed investigation of the case started
Power Corporation Chairman Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal says that the names of five executive engineers were placed before the selection committee in a wrong manner. The engineer who made the list has also been suspended after cancelling the promotions of all. A detailed investigation is being conducted. Action will be taken against the culprits.
