The trust properties of Louise Khurshid, wife of former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid, have been seized by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The zonal office of ED in the capital has seized properties worth about Rs 46 lakh of Lewis Khurshid’s Dr. Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust. This action has been taken for usurping the subsidy provided by the Central Government for distributing artificial limbs and equipment to the disabled.
According to officials, 15 agricultural lands worth Rs 29.51 lakh belonging to Lewis Khurshid in Farrukhabad and Rs 16.41 lakh deposited in four bank accounts belonging to Dr Zakir Hussain have been seized. The ED investigation has revealed that the subsidy of Rs 71.5 lakh obtained by the Trust was not used for organizing camps for disabled people approved by the Government of India, but was used by the Trust’s Project Director Lewis Khurshid, Representative Pratyush Shukla, Secretary Mohammad Athar misused this amount and used it for his own interests.
This amount was invested in movable and immovable assets. Let us tell you that ED had started investigation on the basis of 17 FIRs registered by EOW of UP Police against Dr. Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust representative Pratyush Shukla and others. In all these cases the police had filed charge sheets in the court.
ED interrogated several times
The ED team has questioned Louise Khurshid, wife of former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid, several times in the case of scam in distribution of equipment to disabled people.
