PSL 2023: Pakistan Cricket League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi has made a big change in its team before the next season. Babar Azam will lead Zalmi in the PSL to be held in 2023. Babar has replaced the current captain Wahab Riaz. Under the captaincy of Wahab Riaz, the team was out of the Eliminator round last year. According to ESPNcricinfo, Peshawar Zalmi have included Babar Azam in exchange for Shoaib Malik and Haider Ali from Karachi Kings. The team seems to be moving ahead with the goal of creating a new core by 2021.
Peshawar Zalmi looking for strong team
Peshawar Zalmi is looking for 11 players for the PSL draft to be held on December 15 in Karachi. Along with Babar, the team also signed hitting batsman Mohammad Haris and retained Sherfane Rutherford, Amir Jamal, Salman Irshad and Tom-Kohler Cadmore.
Babar’s journey started with Islamabad United
Babar joined with Islamabad United in the first year of the season (2016). Islamabad United dropped him after two matches. From the next year i.e. 2017, Babar became a part of Karachi Kings, where he showed his mettle and became the high scorer of the tournament. Babar scored 2413 runs in 68 matches of the tournament at an average of 43.60 and a strike rate of 121.97. Imad Wasim will be the new captain of Karachi Kings. Let us tell you that the next season of the tournament is to be played from February 9, 2023.
