The patient died during the operation near Dakbungla Chowk, Line Bazar, Purnia. After the death, the family members staged a protest accusing the doctor of negligence and assaulting the family members. Seeing the commotion, doctors and health workers left the hospital and ran away. After getting information about the incident, the police reached the spot and tried to calm the matter by convincing the family members. The deceased patient Kedar Bhagat (65 years) was a resident of Shastri Nagar Gulabbagh of Sadar police station area.
Regarding the incident, family members said that at 11 am on Wednesday, Kedar Bhagat was admitted to orthopedic specialist Dr. Angad Kumar Choudhary due to some problem in his thigh. In the evening, the hospital staff took the patient inside without Dr. Angad Kumar Choudhary. Blood and water started rising. The patient died shortly after the doctor left. After the death of the patient, when the family members wanted to know the reason, the hospital staff, who had tricked the woman in the family by not telling her the true reason, started beating her. After that the family members also started protesting in anger.
On receiving information about the incident, the police of Assistant Treasurer police station reached the spot and calmed down the uproar while explaining to the family members. Assistant cashier police station incharge Shashi Kumar Bhagat told that after reaching the spot on receiving information about the death of the patient, the family members were pacified after convincing them. No application has been given yet by the family members. Further action will be taken upon receipt of the application.
