The drivers of these two trains had driven their trains at a speed of 120 kmph in a 20 kmph zone near Agra. The railways have taken action in this regard.
Agra Division Manager Prashanti Srivastava said that a railway bridge is being constructed near Jajau and Mania stations. As a precaution, the speed limit at these places has been limited to 20 km per hour.
Despite this, the drivers of both the trains ran at a speed of 120 kmph. This is a case of gross negligence. This could have endangered the lives of hundreds of passengers.
While the driver and the assistant have a comprehensive chart of the entire route. It contains detailed information about the speed limit. It is mandatory to follow this chart as per the standard operating procedure.
He said that in normal circumstances the speed limit at both these places is 120. But, such lapses cannot be tolerated. That is why the drivers and assistants of both the trains have been suspended.
