To reduce the pressure of passengers on long distance fast, superfast and premium trains, the railway will operate short distance fast trains. Four routes have been identified for this in Bareilly. The railway will first conduct a survey on these routes. After this the proposal will be sent to the Railway Board.

There is a rush for confirmed tickets in long distance trains. Passengers travelling up to 250-300 km find it difficult to get confirmed tickets. The biggest problem is on Delhi-Bareilly-Lucknow, Lucknow-Bareilly-Dehradun routes. There are many big stations on these routes which are also important for business and industrial activities. A large number of daily commuters also travel.

For running short distance fast trains, the railway has identified Bareilly-Delhi, Bareilly-Lucknow, Bareilly-Dehradun, Bareilly-Agra routes. A survey will also be conducted on Kathgodam-Lucknow, Lalkuan-Lucknow routes for running short distance fast trains.

Senior DCM Aditya Gupta said that short distance fast trains will be operated in the near future. This will reduce the pressure of passengers on long distance trains. Confirmed tickets will be easily available. After surveying the routes, the report will be sent to the Railway Board.
