Dhamoli 2024: Preparations for Sinjara or Dhamoli, which is to be celebrated tomorrow i.e. on 21st August, have begun in full swing. This festival is celebrated in a special way in Rajasthan. On this occasion, women specially prepare dishes at home. Puri, Gatte ki Sabzi, Aloo ki Sabzi and Kabuli (salted rice) and sweets and snacks are ordered from the market.

Astrologer Anish Vyas, Director of Pal Balaji Astrology Institute Jaipur Jodhpur, told about the celebration of this festival that Badi Teej i.e. Saturi Teej or Kajali Teej (Kajari Teej 2024) is on 22nd August. Women fast on this day by drinking only water throughout the day.

Method of celebrating Sinjara (Sinjara Vidhi)

In the evening, after performing the talai puja, after having darshan of Chandradev, they break the fast by serving sattu, ritufal and faidad etc. Dhamoli is performed on 21 August 2024 from afternoon till the whole night and before sunrise in the early morning.

In this, various sweets, fruits and dishes are eaten for breakfast in the early morning before sunrise. After enjoying these dishes in the early morning, there is a tradition to rinse the mouth thoroughly and then sleep again. Just like Sargi is served on Karva Chauth.

On the day of Teej, women take a bath in the morning and go to temples for darshan. Women swing sixteen times. They drink water only after that.

Ghevar, Rasgulla, Mawa Barfi are sent as sweets. Apart from this, clothes are sent for daughter-in-law and daughter.

Where does Sinjara come from

The day of Sinjara is very special for married women. Sweets and cosmetics are given in Sinjara. If the daughter is in her in-laws’ house then this Sinjara is sent from her maternal home and if the daughter-in-law is in her maternal home then Sinjara comes from her in-laws’ house.

However, in many places, Sinjara is given by the in-laws only in the first year of marriage. Women apply the mehendi given in Sinjara on their hands and then observe a fast on Hariyali Teej the next day.

This festival is celebrated from Rajasthan to Mumbai

This tradition which started from Jodhpur city is being celebrated with great pomp across the country today i.e. apart from Jodhpur, Dhamoli ka Dhamaal is also celebrated in Jaipur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Delhi and Mumbai cities.
