Rajkumar Santoshi Case: A Jamnagar court has sentenced Rajkumar Santoshi to 2 years in jail in the check bouncing case and has also imposed a fine of Rs 2 crore. After this decision of the court, film director Rajkumar Santoshi has reacted. The director has called the check bouncing case fake and said that he will appeal against the court’s decision.
Rajkumar Santoshi’s lawyer Binesh Patel, while talking to E-Times, said that the court has stayed the decision for 30 days and has granted bail to the director. The lawyer said- ‘We have asked for time to appeal against the decision at a higher level. The prosecution did not produce any documentary evidence to prove that Santoshi had taken a loan of Rs 10 lakh from the complainant.

The film director’s lawyer further said that the party making the allegations has itself admitted that a third party had taken the money and given the disputed checks to the complainant. Binesh Patel claimed that the magistrate court ignored these facts and gave the verdict against us. The lawyer said, ‘We will appeal against this decision.’
What is the matter?
Let us tell you that the matter is of the year 2015, in fact, Ashok Lal, a businessman from Jamnagar, had filed a complaint against Rajkumar Santoshi accusing him of taking bounced cheques. The complainant had alleged that Santoshi had taken a loan of Rs 1 crore from him to make a film. Rajkumar Santoshi had given 10 checks of Rs 10 lakh each to the complainant to repay the loan. But these checks were later bounced.
Court sentenced to 2 years imprisonment
The complainant also alleged that when he tried to contact Santoshi after the check bounced, he had disappeared. In the same case, Jamnagar court had sentenced Rajkumar Santoshi to two years in jail. Apart from this, the director was also instructed to pay Rs 2 crore instead of Rs 1 crore.
